What is Peer Support?

Peer support professionals  are people who have been successful in the recovery process, who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support professionals help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process.

Why Peer Support Works?


Peer support works because we have walked similar paths. Peer Suport Specialist have felt what mental illness, postpartum anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and more feels like. We know what it takes to get out of the dark hole and work towards recovery. Building a relationship with someone who speaks your language. Peer Support will build a sense of community where we are responsible to each other, and where we focus on learning together, on recovery and wellness, moving forward in our lives, and on working toward our dreams and goals.


Where is Heal Her Peer Support Located? 

 

Heal Her Peer Support offices out of Shape It Up Fitness a private fitness studio, along with many other wellness professionals. Our address is 141 west 1st Street Waconia, MN 55367. Office days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday seeing clients one to one,  from 6:00am-5:00pm. We have a variety of other services such as monthly workshop to enhance our self-care regime, Books and Bubbly a Happy Hour with a purpose, Walk and Talk Therapy,  monthly support groups, and more. 


What type of credentials and training are required to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist in MN?


A Certified Peer Support Specialist needs to be in recovery, complete the application process, attend training, pass the exam, and needs to maintain 15 CEU’s per year to stay current with certification. We are up to date on top research, skills, strategies, best practices, and more.


Is Peer Support a good fit for me? 


 A Certified Peer Specialist has the ability and experience to say the powerful words, “I understand.” “I know what it feels like” we have the tools necessary to help you. We offer free meet and greets to get to know one another and see if our professional services are a good fit for you. You have no obligation to work with us, if we are not the right fit. However, current research, top professionals, our clients, and myself back up the power of peer support.
